The Customer
CNC Cartage is a premier truck delivery and transport solutions specialist in Brisbane, offering cartage and truck hire and delivery services to companies primarily in the civil infrastructure and construction industries across Queensland. Starting with one truck in 1997, today CNC Cartage owns over 40 body trucks, 10 prime movers and a variety of trailer options, as well as more than 60 dedicated Queenslanders committed to providing customers with reliable and diverse transport solutions.
CNC Cartage’s mission is to provide the best service and experience to all of their customers and staff. They continue to invest in the latest technologies, from smartphones and iPads through to in-vehicle software, to ensure their customers can utilise CNC Cartage’s fleets in an effective, efficient and hassle-free manner.
For six years, CNC Cartage has been relying on Webfleet’ products, which are recommended and provided by CNC Cartage’s long-term partner and telematics product supplier Active Fleet. By harnessing Webfleet’ latest and smartest technology in vehicle-tracking and real-time communication, CNC Cartage matured dramatically over the years, delivering better customer services with improved productivity and efficiency.
The Challenge
With fleets on the road every minute, comes a number of complexities. These days, everyone requires up-to-the-minute information. Knowing where a delivery is and when it will be delivered is a bottom-line expectation. The challenge grew bigger as CNC Cartage’s fleet arsenal continued to expand over the years. More recently, the pandemic has added an extra layer of pressure, causing significant delays, understaffed scenarios and fluctuating customer demand.
To differentiate from the market, exceed customer expectations and navigate through the pandemic with success, it became critical that CNC Cartage adopted a robust and reliable solution to help them track and manage their fleets anywhere, anytime.
The Solution
Fortunately, CNC Cartage’s long-term relationship with Webfleet meant they were able to utilise the advanced telematics technology to alleviate the burden and meet customer demands efficiently, even during difficult times.
Most recently, Active Fleets recommended the Webfleet LINK 740 to CNC Cartage, a future-proof fleet management device that is capable of tracking and tracing vehicles, monitoring driving behaviours, and sending fuel usage statuses. The LINK 740 would enable CNC Cartage to review the route taken and time spent on a delivery prior to invoicing the customer as a safeguard for accuracy.
It was also recommended that CNC Cartage install a multi-channel vehicle CCTV on their fleets. Using Webfleet Solution’s open API, the CCTV would be integrated to capture live footage of every fleet, providing a 360-degree view of each of their delivery status and progress.
The Benefits
Reliable, real time vehicle-tracking
Every day, CNC Cartage is asked for updates by customers on deliveries or for proof of delivery. With the help of Webfleet, CNC Cartage was able to access and provide real-time information on each of the vehicle’s location, direction, route and estimated ETA without difficulty and with high data accuracy. Further, with the CCTV live footage, customers could get a 360-degree view of the vehicle and driver that were working exclusively for them, and be confident that their delivery was safely on the way.
“Using Webfleet, we’re able to track a vehicle in real time – where it has been, what it has done, how long it has stopped somewhere for and what may have caused a delay. It saved us a lot of headaches and helped to build trust with our customers.”
Transparency in invoicing
As a retrospective checking application, the LINK 740 was capable of storing all data and information, allowing CNC Cartage to pull out historical insights whenever needed. For instance, if a customer had questions about an invoice from two weeks ago, CNC Cartage could easily access detailed reports on the route taken, delays encountered and stops made by drivers during the course of their day, therefore justifying the charge for the customer.
“Webfleet played a massive part in our invoicing. We never have a discrepancy with a customer, because we can show them exactly where the truck is at any given point of time.”
Fuel economy & driver performance
In addition to tracking and tracing vehicles, CNC Cartage was able to check their vehicle’s fuel usage and improve driver performance with the help of Webfleet. This resulted in great deals of fuel savings, optimised driving routes and better customer service ratings.
“Optimising routes, getting goods to their sites safely, tracking fuel economy and enhancing driver performance – Webfleet has helped massively with that.”
