Wyvern Cargo to save £25k annually with Webfleet’s trailer brake monitoring solution
London, April 10, 2025 — Haulage, distribution and warehousing specialist Wyvern Cargo is set to save £25,000 a year on trailer brake testing after investing in Webfleet’s advanced truck and trailer management solution.
The company, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has equipped 100 trailers with Webfleet’s Link 350 and Electronic Braking Performance Monitoring System (EBPMS) technology.
The move follows significant price increases announced by its trailer servicing provider to meet the additional costs of this month’s new DVSA trailer brake testing legislation.
Transitioning from an annual brake test to one every 12 weeks not only increases costs, but also leads to greater potential downtime and wasted manpower, as trailers require more frequent returns to depots for traditional rolling road brake tests
, said Simon Sparrowhawk, Operations Director at Wyvern Cargo.
We ran the figures to compare the new trailer maintenance costs against Webfleet and it was a total no-brainer – the Webfleet solution allows us to track all of our 90+ trailers for the first time and save £25k at the same time.
The EBPM system constantly tracks brake performance on the road against DVSA standards and sends any alert emails to the fleet team.
With our daily 5am reports, we can see where all our trailers are, who is driving, when it was last loaded, current load details, and service, MOT and maintenance status, all just by clicking on the screen or typing in a trailer reference number
, Sparrowhawk explained.
Webfleet integrates seamlessly with Wyvern’s Qargo transport management solution (TMS), giving them instant access to all the data they need via the same platform.
We simply hover over a vehicle on the map in the TMS to see all the delivery details at a glance
, added Sparrowhawk.
It’s a very neat solution which means neither our traffic planning team nor our fleet team need to waste time learning or operating two different systems.
Webfleet’s specialist HGV tracking has also been installed across 71 trucks. The system automatically links trucks to relevant trailers in the map view, so the Wyvern team don’t have to use two different menus.
Tachograph data archiving is enabled via Webfleet TachoShare, which automatically downloads driver card data and vehicle unit data remotely.
Again, it’s made a massive difference to our admin efficiency
, said Sparrowhawk.
Before, we were constantly chasing up drivers and wasting time on tachograph admin. Now we can pinpoint exactly how many hours our drivers have left every day and act with confidence to ensure compliance.
We are delighted to support Wyvern in achieving such significant savings
, added Beverley Wise, Regional Director for Webfleet, UKI. This collaboration underscores our commitment to pioneering trailer management solutions and setting new industry standards in operational efficiency.
