TomTom WORK truck navigation solution now available

1 Dezember 2008: TomTom WORK, the B2B division of TomTom, today announces the availability of its new truck navigation solution. This solution features route information specifically designed for trucks, with relevant information like clearance heights and weight restrictions.

The software has new routing algorithms, making it possible for truckers to avoid small town roads and narrow residential areas where possible. Typical truck speeds are taken into account, so truckers get realistic expected arrival times. They can simply enter their vehicle's parameters – measurements, axle weight and total weight – into the software and it will do the rest, maximizing their routes and helping them to avoid 'obstacles' that could delay their arrival.

We continue to stay committed to truck navigation and we look forward to bringing additional TomTom technology and mapping to truckers in the near future, says Thomas Becher, commercial director of TomTom WORK.

Price & availability
The solution is provided as an optional accessory on SD card, to make upgrading as low cost as possible. The SD card comes with maps of Central and Western Europe, and truck navigation is available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux and Great Britain. The solution is available through TomTom WORK partners at a price of 119 GBP (excl. VAT) and in all other European countries for 149 EUR (excl. VAT).
