Webfleet bolsters CO2 reporting capability with Scope 2 insights

Amsterdam, the Netherlands (11 December, 2024) — Webfleet, Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution, has enhanced its CO2 reporting tool for fleets with more comprehensive and actionable insights.

Certified by TÜV Rheinland1, one of the world's leading verification bodies, Webfleet’s CO2 reporting tool now enables fleets to report on direct emissions (Scope 1)2 and indirect emissions (Scope 2)3 for their vehicles using distance- and fuel-based calculation methods.

This means that every Webfleet customer can now use the Webfleet CO2 report as a consistent method to track emissions regardless of the vehicle type.

With the addition of Scope 2 and the distance-based measurement, the Webfleet CO2 reporting tool is leading the way in the European market in calculating and analysing Scope 1 and 2 emissions with two separate certified calculation methods, marking a key milestone in the journey toward sustainable mobility.

The Webfleet CO2 Report provides real-time and historical data on trips, as well as monthly and annual insights, helping fleets comply with the EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

The reporting tool separates Scope 1, the direct emission from internal combustion vehicles, and Scope 2, the indirect emissions from purchased electricity from the grid consumed by electric vehicles, providing fleets with a clear and simplified overview of their CO2 footprint.

It automatically calculates carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2-eq) by accounting for emissions from carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), ensuring alignment with established GHG protocol guidelines, which are the standard requirement for CSRD reporting.

As sustainability continues to transform mobility, access and transparency of key metrics become paramount for fleets of all sizes, said says Jan-Maarten de Vries, President Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions.

We understand the complexities of sustainability reporting and that it can be challenging for fleets to manage this new data. By adding the capability to accurately track Scope 2 emissions with certified calculation methods to our proven CO2 reporting tool, we provide customers with a better understanding of their overall environmental impact.

These new additions offer a more holistic view of sustainability reporting for our customers, while simplifying valuable insights for informed decision-making that drive sustainability, efficiency and long-term value.

1To meet state-of-the-art scientific standards, all platform-embedded calculations and decarbonisation solutions are fully aligned with internationally recognised scientific methodologies and standards such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The scientific accurateness of the applied Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) calculation methodology, Scope 1 & 2, is certified by TÜV Rheinland.

2For Scope 1 emissions, only mobile combustion is considered in the calculation.

3For Scope 2 emissions, only the electricity consumed by the vehicle is considered in the calculation.
